Classic trichology and integrated trichology: discover the differences

Hello Illuminated Hairdresser!

Today we are exploring the distinction between "Classic" Trichology and Integrated Trichology, a word that did not exist and that I invented to broaden the horizon of the evaluation and treatment of hair and scalp by integrating the scientific bases of trichology. universally known with aspects that connect with psycho-somatic, nutritional, emotional and lifestyle issues.

What does this mean in practice?

Imagine mixing a hair color: follow the instructions to the letter, but the result can vary greatly from person to person.

There Integrated Trichology aims to harmonize scientific precision with the uniqueness of each individual, considering hair not only as an aesthetic element but as a mirror of the overall state of well-being.

This is why, dear hairdresser, trichology deserves your particular attention.

However, trichology is often perceived as a boring or complex field, especially when presented in an overly theoretical way.

And this happens not only in hairdressing schools but also in most advanced specialization courses.

We end up memorizing concepts that seem distant from daily practice and not very useful. This approach does nothing but increase the distance between trichology and those who work with hair every day, making it less attractive and undervalued.

When you start working in a salon, things don't improve much because at most only the companies that supply the products talk about trichology. But they are all very basic concepts, “protocols” focused above all on how to use that single product.

Beyond the surface: The integrated approach to trichology

But the reality is that each of us is unique, and standard “protocols” are not always effective for everyone. We therefore need broader training that truly takes into account hair as a messenger of the person's overall well-being.

There comes a point when the hairdresser, frustrated by mediocre results and by seeing clients go elsewhere for hair treatments, begins to ask himself questions.

He begins to perceive his knowledge as insufficient, feeling the urgency to know more. He wants to explore and understand better, eager to enrich his expertise to provide the people who frequent the salon with concrete answers and effective solutions. It aspires to transform every appointment into a truly meaningful experience, offering a service that is not only competent but also authoritative.

I'll tell you an anecdote: during a course, I met a hair stylist who dreamed of making women beautiful, of seeing his work on catwalks and in magazines. But when, talking about what I do, I mentioned trichology, he reacted with disgust, as if it were something far from his art.

To him, and to many others like him, I would like to say: bring your work to the catwalks, but do it with hair that shines with health.

Also considering that many celebrities or models have such damaged hair that hair stylists often do not work directly on their hair, but resort to wigs or extensions.
